OSAKA -- Panasonic will stop producing fluorescent lamps at the end of 2027, putting an end to over seven decades of history in the field amid a global push to eliminate the product.

After beginning production in 1951, Panasonic is currently one of only three companies in Japan producing fluorescent lighting, along with Toshiba Lighting & Technology and Hotalux.
