OSAKA -- Robert Wu stepped down as Sharp's president and CEO effective on Thursday following a two-year stint marred by red ink and visible frictions with Taiwanese parent Foxconn.

Executive Vice President Masahiro Okitsu replaced Wu immediately following the company's annual shareholders meeting that day.
