Sony's newest mirrorless camera squares off against top rival Canon

The flagship a1 II to be released during year-end shopping season

TOKYO -- Sony releases its newest flagship mirrorless camera on Dec. 13, just in time for the holiday shopping season when it will be pitted against top mirrorless rival Canon.

The Sony a1 II is the follow-up to the original a1 camera, which debuted in March 2021. The new 50.1 megapixel model is equipped with artificial intelligence-assisted tracking. The shooting speed clocks in at 30 frames per second.
