Dhaka woos foreign producers as it seeks a major boost in solar and wind investment

DHAKA -- Bangladesh is ramping up a push toward renewable energy as it braces for summer electricity shortages, and as Dhaka is locked in a battle with India's Adani Group over a controversial power supply deal.

For years, the South Asian nation has had one of the world's lowest rates of renewable energy use. But a new interim government -- which took over after Sheikh Hasina was ousted as prime minister in a popular uprising last summer -- is rolling out the red carpet for green energy producers, including solar panel makers from China.
