BRUSSELS/FRANKFURT, Germany -- With cheap Chinese products flooding into Europe's wind power market, the European Union is ramping up efforts to foster local industry players and ensure fair competition in the field.

The EU aims to increase renewable energy to at least 42.5% of consumption by 2030. But European companies are struggling to keep up with the demands of this ambitious goal, and industry groups warn of a reliance on Chinese alternatives.
