TOKYO -- The Japanese government will launch as early as Thursday morning a high-precision sensor into orbit that can be used to search for oil and natural gas from space.
The sensor will be carried to the International Space Station aboard a rocket launched from Florida by U.S. startup SpaceX. The sensor will be attached to the outside of the station and begin operating next year.
