TELUK BINTUNI, Indonesia -- President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Friday inaugurated a new liquefied natural gas production unit at British oil major BP's facility in eastern Indonesia, as the country seeks to increase the share of the transition fuel in its energy mix.
Train 3, the unit's name, has added an additional 3.8 million tonnes to the production capacity of the Tangguh LNG facility in West Papua province, bringing the total to 11.4 million tonnes annually. That means Tangguh LNG production now makes up 35% of Indonesia's total gas production.
