TOKYO -- Partners including Mitsubishi Corp. and Mitsui & Co. are developing a fourth gas field at Indonesia's largest LNG project as Japan looks to diversify energy sources amid ongoing sanctions on Russia and an American freeze on new exports.

The Japanese trading houses announced Friday a final investment decision to expand the Tangguh liquefied natural gas project, which they operate with BP and others, in West Papua province.
