MANILA -- Major Philippine power distributor Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has started building what it says would be the world's largest solar power generation and storage facility, north of Metro Manila, with plans to launch operations in 2026.

Meralco subsidiary Terra Solar Philippines and others started construction on 3,500 hectares of land spanning the provinces of Bulacan and Nueva Ecija. Total investments have reached 200 billion Philippine pesos ($3.5 billion).
