SEOUL -- The South Korean government said Tuesday it will soon begin actively discussing plans to build new nuclear plants that would support carbon reduction goals and improve the country's power supply.

During a power policy meeting held by the energy ministry, the government confirmed it is considering a power source mix that is both rational and efficient in terms of costs, and will involve the introduction of new nuclear plants.
