Tepco to reuse Chinese EV batteries for energy storage

Containerized units to be sold to renewable-energy plants at a discount

Tepco will combine many vehicles' worth of used EV batteries into a container-type storage battery.

TOKYO -- Japanese utility Tokyo Electric Power Co. Holdings will launch a storage battery business utilizing used electric-vehicle batteries from China, Nikkei has learned.

The plan is to assemble used batteries into a containerized energy storage system to assist renewable-energy plants.
