BANGKOK -- Leading Thai electricity company EGCO Group has divested its entire stake in a U.S. power plant, using proceeds from the sale to fund renewable energy projects.
EGCO sold its 49% stake in a gas-fired plant in the state of Rhode Island. The buyer, Shell Energy North America (SENA), also purchased the remaining shares from the Carlyle Group, becoming the full owner.
