TOKYO -- A long-stalled gas development project in waters claimed by both Thailand and Cambodia is regaining momentum, with shared concerns over energy security pushing the Southeast Asian countries to put their territorial dispute aside.

"We agreed to discuss further on the joint exploration of the hydrocarbon resources in the overlapping claims area between the two countries," Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin told reporters Feb. 7 after meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Bangkok.
