BANGKOK -- Thailand's largest private power producer has become even bigger after a merger with a large telecommunications provider this month, with the deal expected to have major implications for the country's climate change goals.

Gulf Energy Development completed its consolidation with Intouch Holdings on April 1 to form a new company called Gulf Development.
