TOKYO -- Tokyo will begin requiring solar panels on roofs of new homes in a bid to satisfy both increasing energy and decarbonization demands, though concerns linger about the measure pushing up already high home prices.

Starting in April, the Tokyo government will require around 50 major homebuilders to install solar panels on newly built detached houses.
