TOKYO -- Toshiba affiliate TMEIC will build an $85 million factory in the U.S. state of Texas to make power storage systems for data centers.

Capacity from an existing plant in Texas will be relocated to the site. The planned factory will have extra production lines to expand annual output by 60% to 2.4 gigawatts.
