Samsung C&T joins NuScale effort to build small nuclear reactors

South Korean company invests in U.S. startup, gaining role in planned projects

SEOUL -- Samsung C&T will participate in an effort led by NuScale to build small nuclear power plants, the South Korean company said Tuesday, making a $70 million investment in an American startup that aims to produce a safer, lower-cost reactor design.

Samsung C&T will provide technical cooperation to NuScale for reactor projects planned in the U.S. state of Idaho and Romania.
