Fanuc to build brainier robots with startup

TOKYO -- Japanese industrial robot maker Fanuc announced Wednesday that it will work with Tokyo-based startup Preferred Networks in the field of machine learning.

Using data collected with sensors, it is possible to create machines that improve their capabilities without additional programming by humans. The companies will strive to develop a system that enables industrial robots to boost efficiency on their own.
