Brookfield joins Blackstone and KKR in race for Japan's wealthy

TOKYO -- Canadian asset manager Brookfield will team with a major securities firm in Japan next year to offer investment funds targeting high-net-worth individuals, joining U.S. peers Blackstone and KKR in a race for the market. 

David Levi, who heads Brookfield Oaktree Wealth Solutions, a Brookfield unit that caters to wealthy individuals, said the first offering early next year will be a non-listed real estate investment trust.
