TOKYO -- China's investment bankers are abuzz over the prospect of the government easing restrictions on overseas acquisitions.

The possibility was a major topic of discussion among corporate executives in charge of mergers and acquisitions at China M&A Forum, held in Shanghai on Oct. 19.
