HONG KONG -- HSBC Holdings has promoted Chief Financial Officer Georges Elhedery to group CEO, with the change due to take effect Sept. 2.

Elhedery, who has been with the bank since 2005, assumed his current post of CFO in January 2023. He will take the reins from CEO Noel Quinn, who announced in late April that he will step down after 37 years with the London-headquartered bank.
