Indonesia's Gojek invests in state-owned e-wallet LinkAja

Capital injection follows similar move last year by Singapore-based rival Grab

Indonesian mobile tech giant Gojek's investment in state-owned payments company LinkAja follows a similar one by its Singapore-based rival Grab.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian mobile tech giant Gojek has invested in state-owned payments company LinkAja, both companies announced on Tuesday, a move aimed at further expanding the digital ecosystem in a country where consumption habits have greatly changed due to coronavirus.

Gojek's investment follows one in LinkAja by its Singapore-based competitor Grab in November, making the platform a rare company into which both bitter rivals have invested.
