Japan's Aiful to pay back banks early

TOKYO -- Aiful will pay off bank loans Tuesday, years sooner than a deadline that had been extended to bail out the Japanese consumer lender.

The banks had agreed in June of last year to push back the repayment deadline for the 52.7 billion yen ($429 million) to April 2020. With business conditions having since improved, they revised the agreement this July to move up the deadline to the end of September. Now, Aiful is ready to make the repayment even sooner. An announcement is likely Tuesday.
