PayPal expansion includes tie-ups with rivals

Enhanced payment network brings in millions more users, boosts transactions

PayPal's headquarters in California.

PALO ALTO, U.S. -- PayPal, the U.S. online payment services provider, is aggressively expanding its payment network worldwide by forming partnerships with global players in various sectors. The moves are aimed at increasing convenience for users and expanding its customer base.

In late July, the leading payment platform provider agreed with Chinese search engine provider Baidu on a strategic partnership, by which PayPal merchants outside of China will accept payments from users of Baidu's own payment platform, Baidu Wallet.
