BANGKOK -- Major Thai lender Kasikornbank said on Tuesday it has partnered with Myanmar's Kanbawza (KBZ) Bank to start a smartphone-based remittance service for sending money from Thailand to Myanmar.

Since Myanmar's military takeover in February 2021, young people increasingly are leaving to work in neighboring countries such as Thailand. The banks aim to capture demand from these workers for sending money to family in Myanmar.
