HONG KONG -- Yum China Holdings, the operator of KFC and Pizza Hut chains in the country, is accelerating its expansion but focusing on smaller stores with cheaper offerings as consumers become increasingly frugal.

Joey Wat, CEO of Yum China, stressed on Tuesday that the fast-food group had reached a key milestone of 15,000 outlets in record time.
