SAPPORO, Japan -- A beloved fruit parlor from Kinokawa, Wakayama prefecture in western Japan, has made its way to a popular resort town of Noboribetsu in Hokkaido. Hopes are high that the store's renowned fruit parfaits will be popular among inbound tourists enjoying hot springs in the town on the country's northernmost main island.
Kannonyama Fruit Parlor opened its doors in December on the first floor of a Japanese traditional ryokan inn, Dai-ichi Takimotokan, in Noboribetsu. The inn operates the eatery under a franchise agreement with Wakayama-based agricultural corporation Kankoen.
