BANGKOK/YANGON -- Heineken and other international players have gained the upper hand in Myanmar's beer market as drinkers in the Southeast Asian country shun a once-dominant domestic brand with ties to the military.

A 34-year-old banker who drinks beer two or three times a week favors Heineken over others.
