Japan yellowtail goes global, becoming No. 2 fish export

KANAZAWA, Japan -- One of Japan's favorite fish for winter sashimi has become more expensive this year as it rides a global wave of popularity, taking exports to an all-time high.

Yellowtail, called buri in Japanese, has won over seafood lovers in North America, Asia and other markets with its firm, fatty texture. The rise in popularity has drawn comparisons with Norwegian salmon.
