NEW YORK -- Hakkaisan Brewery, a Japanese sake maker, and local sake brewer Brooklyn Kura are gearing up to "make sake a global beverage," having opened a new taproom and expanded brewery here on Friday as part of their partnership.

"This is a goal that Hakkaisan or Brooklyn Kura alone cannot achieve," Hakkaisan President Jiro Nagumo said at the launch event. The two companies formed a business and capital tie-up in 2021.
