Japan chain wants to become 'a local company' following moves into U.S., Taiwan

OSAKA -- Japanese chain Kura Sushi will open its first restaurant in China by summer, focusing on Shanghai first and aiming to reach 100 locations in the country over the next 10 years.

"There are some uncertainties due to the coronavirus, but we should be able to open by summer," President Kunihiko Tanaka said of the company's plans for China.
