TOKYO -- Japan's ice cream makers are doubling down on greater Asia, taking advantage of the growing popularity of Japanese flavors like matcha and offering novel products unlike those widely available across the region.

Imuraya Group began making and selling its signature Azuki Bar in Malaysia in 2021. It aims to eventually export the ice cream bar from there to such neighbors as Indonesia.
