TOKYO -- Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co. is rushing to acquire assets in the poultry and shrimp business and establish a global supply chain for the sustainable proteins.

Mitsui President Kenichi Hori said the foods are not just economical, but also environmentally friendly. "We will expand food choices that are in harmony with natural capital and contribute to wellness," he told Nikkei in an interview.
