TOKYO -- Nearly half of Japan-based restaurant operators with stores abroad plan to add more, a Nikkei survey shows, as the world grows hungrier for Japanese cuisine.

What was once an industry focused on the domestic market is now rapidly developing abroad in pursuit of growth.
