HONG KONG -- Kweichow Moutai, the leading distiller of Chinese baijiu liquor, reported solid first-half results that sent its share price higher on Friday, although a look across the industry suggests the frontrunner's improving fortunes do not necessarily signal a recovery in the country's consumption.
The Shanghai-listed liquor maker said its revenue for the first six months came to 81.93 billion yuan ($11.43 billion), up by 17.8% on the year, while its net profit rose by 15.9% to 41.69 billion yuan.
