MANILA -- The Philippine government is touting the country's cuisine as part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s effort to introduce local delicacies to international visitors more familiar with Thai tom yam kung and Vietnamese pho.

"We often see in social media the reaction videos of many foreigners in different countries towards Filipino food," Marcos said in a video posted on Facebook last month. Mentioning sinigang soup and lumpiang Shanghai, spring rolls, he said, "I feel like once they get to know more about our regional cuisines, the Philippines' [food] ranking will soar higher."
