Cafe chain adopts location-based pricing in country for first time

TOKYO -- Starbucks will raise menu prices by as much as 6% depending on where the cafe is located in Japan, the local arm of the company said Friday, marking the first time prices will no longer be uniform here.

The move will take effect Feb. 15 for roughly 600 cafes, or about 30% of Starbucks in the country. Locations include Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and other major cities, with some exceptions.
