BANGKOK -- An app that lets consumers buy unsold food from restaurants and stores at a discount is spreading in Thailand, partnering with more than 700 businesses as awareness grows of the impact of food waste on the environment.

Thailand wastes around 17 million tonnes of food a year. More food waste means higher emissions of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas.
