Foreign owner can inject new life into Sharp

TOKYO -- Hon Hai Precision Industry's acquisition bid for Sharp has fanned fears of technology leaks and concerns about cultural clashes. But bringing new dynamics to a staid corporate culture could serve the struggling Japanese company well. 

     The Japanese electronics sector has found itself beset on all sides over the past quarter century, pursued by Chinese and South Korean rivals and handicapped by its late entry into the information technology sphere. But until the Sharp acquisition, no major electronics maker had sought shelter beneath a foreign company's umbrella.
