OSAKA -- Hon Hai Precision Industry is considering combining its liquid crystal display business with that of Sharp after acquiring the troubled Japanese manufacturer, likely bringing them under the umbrella of joint venture Sakai Display Products.
The Taiwanese contract manufacturer, also known as Foxconn, apparently decided the contingent liabilities of Sharp that had delayed a deal were not serious enough to merit calling it off. An agreement will be announced as early as Wednesday.
