Think like an orchestra conductor to retain talent, ABB's Voser says

Empowering workers poses bigger challenge than raising capital

ABB Chairman Peter Voser discusses leadership in the age of disruption at the Nikkei Global Management Forum in Tokyo on Nov. 6.

TOKYO -- Business leaders in today's technology-driven marketplace need to establish "guardrails" for empowering talent and unleashing the potential of their companies, Peter Voser, the chairman of Swedish-Swiss engineering giant ABB Group, said on Tuesday.

Speaking at the 20th Nikkei Global Management Forum in Tokyo, Voser said management has become a "subtle craft" that requires executives to think about creating value as they respond to technological disruption.
