Masayoshi Son: Ignore the gossips, look for acumen

Times have changed. When I was a high school student, I considered it a luxury to eat a sandwich at a Lotteria fast-food store around a Nishi-Nippon Railroad station near my home in Fukuoka Prefecture. It was the tastiest thing I had ever eaten.

The shopping district where the Lotteria operated was always crowded back then. When I returned to the area a few years ago, 70% of the stores there were shuttered. The district was a ghost town. Running an Internet business is similar to running a shopping district. You must attract as much customer traffic as possible. This is the name of the game.
