FUKUOKA, Japan -- A Japanese nursing care provider is tapping artificial intelligence to help ease anxiety and other symptoms in dementia patients via a boy-shaped robot that has time to talk when human staffers are too busy.
At a nursing home operated by a company called The Harmony, a woman with dementia was engaged in deep conversation with the roughly 30-centimeter-tall robot, named Dai-chan.
