TOKYO -- Japan's pharmaceutical regulatory authority will open its first overseas office in Bangkok as early as 2024, aiming for it to become an entry point for Japanese pharmaceutical companies into fast-growing Southeast Asian markets.
The Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), which evaluates the safety and efficacy of new drugs and medical devices before they come on the market, is planning to open the representative office by March 2025, according to government officials.
