Country's largest foreign brewer also bidding quietly for shares in a top local rival

HO CHI MINH CITY -- In July, Heineken Vietnam Brewery acquired Carlsberg Vietnam Brewery-Vung Tau in the south Vietnamese port city, and plans to increase its brewing capacity in the province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau to 610 million liters from 50 million liters at present.

The plant has been renamed Heineken Vietnam Brewery Vung Tau, and the expansion plan has been submitted to the ministry of industry and trade. Official approval is pending but expected to go through.
