BANGKOK -- Honda Motor on Friday announced that it has placed a new automobile plant into service in Thailand but will run it at half the scale initially planned due to the country's sluggish auto market.
The factory in the eastern province of Prachinburi will operate on a single daytime shift for now and will turn out around 60,000 vehicles a year. It will make the latest model of the Civic midsize sedan, which was released last September in North America and for which Thailand will be the second market.
