TOKYO -- Huawei Technologies will establish an R&D base here as early as next year for collaborative research with Japanese companies on cutting-edge topics related to the "internet of things" and next-generation 5G wireless technologies.
This will be the fourth of the top Chinese telecommunications equipment producer's special "X labs" focusing on product development for advanced tech -- and the second abroad, after a base in Germany.
