IBM Japan extending benefits to same-sex partners

TOKYO -- IBM Japan will soon allow its LGBT employees to enjoy the same family benefits as other staffers.

     Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender partners will be equivalent to spouses for benefit purposes under a registration system to be introduced in January. They will qualify for condolence payments and care leave, for example.
