Ikea getting serious about online orders in Japan

Aims to have web sales account for 50% of total in 10 years

Thousands of items from Ikea stores will be available via the new website.

TOKYO -- Ikea Japan will make a full-fledged entry into internet sales, offering nearly all store items through a dedicated website launching late April.

Plans call for selling 9,000 or so products, excluding food and plants. They will initially be shipped from the nation's nine Ikea stores. Coverage will expand later with direct shipping from warehouse facilities.
