TAIPEI -- A senior Intel executive said Wednesday that the world's biggest semiconductor company will continue to lead the game in both the data center market and in advanced chip processing technology due to the unrivaled scale of its investment in research and development.

The statement by Diane Bryant, Intel's executive vice president and data center chief, came as British chip designer ARM Holdings and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., the world's largest contract chipmaker, are teaming up to compete in the fast-growing data center market, an infrastructure that is essential to the development of next-generation technologies, including cloud services and artificial intelligence.
